MBA Entrance Exam

Masters in Business Administration is a 2 years degree offered by various colleges in India.It is one of the sought after degrees with which an individual can enhance expertise in different fields. After completing  the degree  an individual can get a desired job in the field of his expertise. There are different types of MBA courses in India. Some of them are mentioned below

  1. Full time MBA course: Full time MBA course is for a duration of 2 years and are most common in India. An individual needs to attend regular lectures in college. Full time MBA course is divided in 4 semesters and at end of each semester exams are conducted by respective colleges
  1. Part time MBA course: This course is mainly for working professionals or housewives who don’t get time to attend regular classes.. Individuals can work and attend classes on weekends. The duration of this course is slightly more than the full time course as the lectures are conducted only on weekends also the working professional dont have to compromise on there work

To get admission for MBA in b school is not a cake walk. An individual needs to give entrance exams which are conducted at institutional and national level. Based on the score an individual can get admission in b school/ college.Entrance exams which are conducted include 

  • CAT 
  • CET 
  • NMAT 
  • SNAP, 
  • GMAT
  • ATMA 
  • XAT.

CAT- Common Aptitude Test

This is an entrance exam which is conducted by Indian institute of management and other top  B schools in India. The registration for CAT will start in the month of August 2021 and exams will be conducted in the month of November 2021. Results of CAT will be announced in January 2022.

Application Process

  1. Login to CAT official website iimcat.ac.in
  2. Fill up the New Candidate registration which will have your basic details like name, birthdate, email id, country,contact number etc. Once you submit this login Id and password will be generated
  3. Re login with the help of Login Id and password received. CAT application form will open were  applicant has to fill the following details 
  • Personal details
  • Address 
  • Contact number 
  • Upload documents ( applicant needs to upload photograph and digital signature in the prescribed size and format)
  • Fill academic details
  • Work experience details if any 
  • Final step in CAT form is the payment of application fees.

Once the fee is paid and the applicant clicks on submit then preview of application is shown. Applicants need to take print out of the form. Applicants need to login on a timely basis and check if they have received an admit card.Admit card consists of the basic details and the centre for examination.

Syllabus for Exam

CAT syllabus consists of 3 sections. 

  • Quantitative Ability 
  • Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning 
  • Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension 

There are a total of 100 questions and each section has different weightage. Each question carries 3 marks and 1 mark will be deducted in case if the answer is wrong.

2) GMAT- Graduate Management Aptitude Test 

GMAT is mostly taken by MBA applicants who want to go abroad for further studies. GMAT score is accepted by 80 countries and top management institutes. This is conducted by the Graduate Management Association Council. There is no particular registration date for GMAT as it is open all throughout the year

3) CMAT- Common Management Admission Test 

This test is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission in MBA/PGDM in over 1000 B schools in India.The exams are conducted in the month of March.

  3. Once all the required details are filled click on submit
  4. After submission registration id and password will be generated
  5. Login using id and password
  6. Upload required documents 
  7. Pay the fees for the exam

4) XAT- Xavier Aptitude Test 

This is a national level exam conducted by XLRI(Xavier Labour Relations Institute Jamshedpur. The exam score is accepted by over 700 B schools. Exams are conducted in January every year

5)SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test )

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test is a national level test conducted by Symbiosis International Deemed University, Pune.This test is accepted by 16 SNAP colleges affiliated with the university. The exam is conducted in month of December

6) NMAT (Narsee Monjee Aptitude Test)

NMAT is conducted by GMAC for admission in  NMIMS (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies), Mumbai. This exam includes 66 centres across 52 countries

Management Aptitude Test is an exam conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) for admission in MBA/PGDM courses. This exam is conducted in three modes 

  1. Online Mode -Computer Based Test 
  2. Offline Mode – Paper Based Test
  3. Remote Proctored- Internet Based Test

The exam is conducted four times in a year February, May, September, December
